Among these actions, the Order calls for the Oregon Department of Forestry to . Two Paths toward Sustainable Forests is the first book to examine the social and economic aspects of sustainable forestry and the resulting impacts on resource policy in Canada and the United States. The extraction-oriented policies that dominated forest management in the two countries for more than a century have in recent decades given way to new approaches.

    Oregon remains the leading state in the nation for timber harvesting and lumber production. While a majority of the timber volumes originates from industrial forestry, small woodland owners also play a significant role in the supply of material to Oregon’s mills. Most small woodland owners throughout the state are well-versed in planting. A great summary of the topics covered during the conference was recently published by the Forest Service and the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF).
